Develop practical continuous improvement skills to support Marmon’s operational excellence goals.

The Marmon Certified Lean Practitioner series equips employees across Marmon operating companies with the essential tools, methods, and behaviors needed to support continuous improvement efforts and drive measurable business results. This program establishes a common problem-solving language and toolkit aligned with Marmon’s Continuous Improvement framework and decentralized operating structure.

Participants gain hands-on experience with Lean fundamentals, learning how to identify waste, analyze process performance, support structured improvement projects, and contribute as effective team members or facilitators. The course emphasizes practical application using real manufacturing and business scenarios relevant to Marmon’s diverse portfolio of companies. 

Key Topics Covered: Continuous Improvement principles and expectations

  • Lean fundamentals and waste identification in manufacturing and business processes
  • Introduction to the DMAIC problem-solving methodology
  • Process mapping and value stream thinking
  • Data collection, basic statistical analysis, and performance metrics
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action development
  • Standard work, visual management, and error prevention
  • Team facilitation, communication, and change adoption
  • Supporting CI projects and sustaining improvements

Course Format: The series is delivered over 12 days in 2-hour segments. After each session, there is an optional 2-hour coaching opportunity with the instructor. The series combines instructor-led discussion, interactive exercises, and applied examples tailored to Marmon operating environments. Each participant completes a project, ensuring immediate, practical impact within their home organization.

Expectations: Marmon expects 100% attendance for all 12 training sessions. All participants must complete a quiz after each session and a final test at the end of the series.
