Kimball Electronics

Jasper, Indiana

Kimball Electronics is a preeminent Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider serving customers around the world. Their contract electronics manufacturing services teams provide manufacturing, engineering and supply chain services, design and testing services, as well as regulatory support processes, which utilize common production and support capabilities for a variety of industries globally.

Situation:

Based on feedback from an existing client, Kimball Electronics explored the MedAccred accreditation process in hopes to improve their competitiveness in the medical device industry. MedAccred is an industry managed supply chain oversight program that reduces risk to patient safety, assures quality products, and compliance with requirements as they apply to critical processes used in the production of medical devices.

Solution:

Purdue MEP provided MedAccred Stage 1 audit support to ensure high-quality finished devices and offer clearer supply-chain visibility while making Kimball Electronics more competitive in the industry.

Results:

Kimball Electronics received the MedAccred certification in April 2019. Gaining the MedAccred certification put the company’s products in a position to acquire additional suppliers in the medical supplier industry.

“Purdue MEP assisted us in the Stage 1 audit for MedAccred. Their assistance was much appreciated in helping us find a qualified auditor and preparing us for the Stage 2 audit. Our Purdue MEP contact kept up communication throughout the process and was a contributor to our success.”
