Caliente LLC.

Fort Wayne, Indiana

Calienté LLC was founded in 2001 with one simple goal in mind: to provide high quality, innovative heating solutions to help businesses lower costs and achieve their business objectives. Our advanced designs and manufacturing techniques provide a competitive advantage to our customers. Calienté offers a wide array of both custom and standard parts, utilizing a worldwide set of design and supply partners. We love problem solving, whether at the component or system level; we bring the same passion and inventive thinking to every project and customer. Five years ago, Calienté made the strategic decision to apply our innovative thermal expertise to products for the Department of Defense in the thermal target arena. Today, we are one of the leading suppliers of thermal target systems to each of the branches of the U.S. military.

Situation

As a small business, Calienté was facing the daunting task of meeting the DFARS Cybersecurity requirements for defense contractors.

Solution

Purdue MEP partnered the company with industry leading experts in the field of cybersecurity and extensive knowledge of the NIST 800-171 standard to perform a GAP analysis of our current protocols to that required by the DoD for defense contractors.

Results

Purdue MEP provided a detailed GAP analysis of Calienté’s current cybersecurity protocols and procedures comparative the requirements of the DoD. The company was given a detailed action plan on the steps needed to be DFARS compliant, as well as the tools to manage the project effectively and efficiently.

“Meeting the DFARS requirements for Cybersecurity is going to be a daunting task for many small defense contractors like Calienté.  Partnering with the Purdue Manufacturing Extension Program very quickly and effectively allowed us to fully understand the requirements and scope of the project ahead of us. Purdue’s ability to partner Calienté with an industry leading IT firm was invaluable to us.  We now have a great resource that Purdue paired us with to tap into during our implementation efforts.”
