Event Details

The Compressed Air Challenge© is a voluntary collaboration of industrial users; manufacturers, distributors and their associations; facility operating personnel and their associations; consultants; state research and development agencies; energy efficiency organizations; and utilities, that are determined to help you realize the benefits of smart compressed air management.  As a result, they have developed the Fundamentals of Compressed Air Systems one-day training.

Please bring information about the size and rough layout of your compressed air systems, to reference during training. 

You will learn:   

  • How to calculate and reduce the costs of compressed air in your facility
  • How to gain better control of compressed air for optimum reliability and productivity
  • You’ll use data from your facility and complete hands-on exercises with emphasis on bottom-line results
  • Develop a compressed air system management action plan for your plant
  • Compute the current cost of your plant's compressed air systems
  • Determine the impact of different compressor control types
  • Measure and create a baseline of system performance
  • Identify steps for proper system operation
  • Discover basic approach for cutting costs

Intended Audience:

Those with responsibilities related to the proper operation and maintenance of a compressed air system

Credits: Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are awarded for CAC training to those graduates requesting them. Iowa State University issues CEU certificates for the classes for a fee of $25 per certificate.  Students will receive a CEU card at the end of their training. It is their responsibility to complete the card and mail in the card and payment to the attention of : CEU Manager Iowa State University Registration Services 117 Printing Building Ames, IA 50011. ISU will file the information and send the certificates to the students. The Fundamentals course is worth 0.7 CEUS
