Automotive Supplier Diversification Grant

Funding for Indiana Manufacturers Supplying the Automotive Industry

The Automotive Supplier Diversification Opportunities (ASDO) grant program provides no-cost assistance to Indiana small to-medium manufacturers that produce components for the U.S. automotive supply chain.  The grant program provides selected and eligible manufacturers with ideas and guidance for transitioning their operations to manufacture components for the electric vehicle (EV) and/or clean energy markets. These insights come in the form of a new Small Supplier Electric Vehicle Transition Playbook to create practical action plans for their businesses.

Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), in partnership with Conexus Indiana, is currently accepting participant applications for receiving support through the ASDO grant. The program currently has openings for 5 to 7 manufacturing companies to receive no-cost consulting and guidance in identifying opportunities to expand or transition their operations to serve the EV and/or clean energy markets, to pressure-test the business case for doing so, and to understand workforce and financing considerations and how to address them.

Participating in this pilot will give companies preferential status to apply for a Department of Energy implementation matching grant of up to $300,000 per project.

Eligible Companies:

  • Small to medium size enterprises – under 1,000 employees with an annual revenue of less than $500 million
  • Tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers to the automotive industry
  • Production facilities located in Indiana

Program Details:

  • Funding is provided in three (3) rounds of cohorts, with the first round of 5-7 manufacturers funded from approximately November 2024 to May 2025.
  • Consulting and guidance will be based on a new Small Supplier Electric Vehicle Transition Playbook developed by Argonne National Laboratory.
  • This grant program will explore the transferability of participants’ existing automotive component manufacturing equipment, processes, and workforce capabilities to enable new production lines for the most promising market opportunities, as well as new capabilities and considerations to support electrification and decarbonization efforts across the economy.
