Shrock Manufacturing, Inc.

Elkhart, Indiana

Opened in 1979, Shrock Manufacturing is a steel tube fabricator specializing in folding bed frames and seat frames.  We are a privately held company with over fifty employees, who have an average tenure of eight years.

Situation

Historically, Shrock Manufacturing has primarily served as a supplier to the boating and recreational vehicle (RV) industries. In order to diversify our business, and to avoid the downfall of the 2008 recession, it became apparent we needed an ISO 9001 certification to pursue other markets.

Solution

Purdue TAP worked onsite to train and guide all implementation activities to ensure a full understanding of the IS0 9001 requirements. In addition, Purdue TAP provided our company with Internal Auditor Training, which included hands-on experience conducting practice audits.

Results

With our current capabilities, we have earned the opportunity to add $1.5 million in new business from markets in which we have no presence. These industries were closed to us prior to the ISO training. In the next five years, we estimate our sales will double.

It was great to have consultants spend time understanding our business and modifying their program to fit how we do business. The ISO training will serve as the basis for a new beginning in our company. We anticipate doubling the size of the company in the next five years and the ISO program is making it possible.”
